about

Nakano means 'my love'. It is a song about respect for love. People can abuse love. You love someone and the person will pretend to return that love just to get money, or prestige, or a certain position. The song is encouraging people to be real, honest and not abuse other people's feelings, to imagine the pain they cause if they do.

It also criticises polygamy. Men use 'tradition' and a 'right' to marry several women, but this can lead to broken hearts, secret fights and battles within families.

lyrics

seri koko

duniya ning mola kano beyeh
woto kana neneh
seri niyeng neneh

woto nkana na nyo neneh

Cherie, darling
I have my love for you
If I have such love for you
Don’t fool me
If you fool me
I get sad
Let us not fool each other
